Representation

Representation Key themes of stereotyping and gender are shown through meet and style. Emmet is the main male protagonist and both the film and video game revolve around his transition from a normal everyday gu to the hero that saves the world. How does this portray male gender? It supports the stereotype of men being the dominant gender, as the products focus on a man as the main character and he becomes the hero.  However his scared facial expression, is a counter type as men are meant to be seen as brave and courageous, however he is seen as scared and anxious, as well as unintelligent. As well as this, he has a women, wildstyle, which helps him throughout his adventure which challenges the stereotype of women needing help from a man.  The fact he is running in the poster away from the danger rather than facing it head on emphasises this. Lego Campaign Exam Question

How has media language used to create meaning in the lego movie advertising campaign? Talk about posters and trailer.  In the Lego movie posters, the use of camera is used to create meaning. For example, Lord Bussiness almost covers the entirety of the poster. This connotes his dominance high status and importance within the film. The fact it is a close-up emphasising his angry face expression connotes he is the villain of the film, linking to props theory. This creates meaning due to all these identified connotations reflecting his character within the film, he is presented as egotistical.  As well as this,  in the Lego movie trailer, editing is used to create meaning. For example, within the premier inn segment of the trailer, the editing is very slow paced and the transitions are fades. This could conform to the fantasy genre within this hybrid, due to these connatations creating an magical and dream like undertone to the film. Finally, the posters use mise e...
